6 months in: One thing that I’ve noticed about my iPhone

You all know that I itch to change my electronics devices as often as I clean my room. The main problem is that I’m pissed off at all of them. The Kindle Fire’s laggy as hell and the Silk browser is nowhere as fast as Amazon blew it up to be. The Dell I got last year stopped playing videos and mp3s for some reason, and overheats all the time. The netbook that I’m typing on has a touchpad from hell that would have been a dealbreaker if I knew about it (and it just jumped the cursor to some random location as I type).

But not my iPhone. I’m nowhere close to an Apple fanboy, but one thing I’ve noticed about it is that I haven’t gotten pissed off at my phone yet. Texting works, camera works, the apps work, and the interface is a pleasure to use. Although Siri was way overhyped and the screen too small, I don’t get frustrated because everything just works, without frustrating button-jamming and resetting every week. And I think that’s what’s so appealing about this thing.

At this rate, I probably should just get a MacBook Air to avoid the urge to throw this netbook across my wall. And there the touchpad jumps the cursor again…

Going into the summer, with my luggage packed for LA and soon to be packed for NY in three weeks, the feeling of transitions evoked by packing provides a good backdrop for looking back, and using that added perspective to look forward.

Accidentally searched “sl” today…

First result was Second Life. Remember how people said that it was going to take over and replace our actual lives? Lolz.
